New Windows Logo Reaction -- That's bad

Windows got a new logo, did you hear? I just clicked a link on Twitter and read all about it. I don't really keep up with Windows since I am happy to say I have not had to look upon a Windows computer in close to a year now. But apparently they're coming out with Windows 8 and that gets a new logo.

Just let that rest on your retinas for a minute. What do you think? Try to name your emotion.... I got "Despair."

I think it's right up there with the Walmart sphincter logo. Read more about the failure they're calling Metro style and see pictures of the logo through the years on the Windows blog.

  1. I think, "Boring." That logo sucks. They can rationalize all they want about the past, the "Metro" style, whatever. But let's call it like it is. Microsoft got f***ed on this one. I can only imagine the amount of money they spent, and the countless hours of meetings and sessions they went through.

A four year old could have beaten the shit out of this in about five minutes, with two different colored crayons.

    Dumbasses.

  2. From the people I've talked to who've bothered to bootleg Windows 8 thus far they've been far less than underwhelmed. It's UI has been totally geared toward a mobile rather than desktop experience, and has been drastically stripped of all resemblance to previous editions of windows for it, and what's replacing it isn't even very good as a tablet OS. All the buzz I've heard so far is that if they release it remotely close to what it's early betas look like you should expect it to be remembered about as fondly as smallpox or Windows ME. Why not just strengthen 7 with incremental refinements, a better more solid product rather than trying to shove through a mistake waiting to happen, and occasional ooh-la-la changes like apple does? It's not like desktop computing has drastically changed in the last decade aside from your OS being way less important than it used to be.
